TLC for Bikes is involved in various Charity Health Organizations. They focus on helping to build awareness of the diseases and help with fundraising rides. Below are some of the organizations we are involved in the Raleigh area.
American Diabetes Association
Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life. The cause of diabetes continues to be a mystery. Both genetics and environmental factors such as obesity and lack of exercise appear to play roles in the cause of type 2 diabetes.
Foundation of Hope- Research and Treatment of Mental Illness
The Foundation of Hope promotes scientific research aimed at discovering the causes and potential cures for mental illness in order to develop a more effective means of treatment. We are committed to raising community awareness and supporting effective treatment programs.
The Foundation provides financial support for ongoing and new research and treatment, as well as the development of researchers at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, its affiliated psychiatric institutions, and local mental health agencies.

Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a life-threatening genetic disease that primarily affects the lungs and digestive system. An estimated 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide) have CF.
In people with CF, a defective gene and its protein product cause the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucus that:
Clogs the lungs and leads to life-threatening lung infections.
Obstructs the pancreas and stops natural enzymes from helping the body break down food and absorb vital nutrients.
In the 1950s, few children with CF lived to attend elementary school. Since then, tremendous progress in understanding and treating CF has led to dramatic improvements in the length and quality of life for those with CF. Many people with the disease can now expect to live into their 30s, 40s and beyond

JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. JDRF collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners and is the only organization with the scientific resources, regulatory influence, and a working plan to better treat, prevent, and eventually cure T1D.
